10/2/18 – I did a full 30 minutes of working out, though I didn’t deviate too much from my usual style. I chose a 20 minute high intensity interval training workout. I love how these really kick your butt, and the articles I have read indicate that science is proclaiming these workouts to be possibly better at whipping you into shape than a regular workout that goes along at a consistent pace. Pushing yourself as hard as you can for short periods of time, followed by breaks seems to work. I know I feel it. I followed that workout with 10 minutes of stretching. Both of these workouts were not just me choosing what to do. I consulted my fitness guru, youtube. I will choose any video that suits me, but I have found that I really like fitness blenders and popsugar, and I use those videos often.

10/4/18 – Tonight I experimented. My daughter had encouraged me to try the 7 minute workout app. I had put a few other on my phone previously, but none of them ever seemed to stay there long term. As I was glancing through my apps working my way to Youtube where I find most of my workouts I skimmed across that app. After using it for a workout I wondered what else the app store might offer. I pulled up a couple of articles about what the best apps might be currently and downloaded a few of the ones that looked the most interesting. I set a couple of them up and then found a workout to try. The workouts seemed hard at the time. I though, surely I would wake up with sore abs the next day, but no, I’m fine. I don’t know if that is good or bad. I followed those workouts with some random stretches I put together from memory. I plan on experimenting with a few of these apps to let you know what I like and don’t about some of the popular ones right now. More to come.

10/5/18 – I tried a new app for my workout, even though I was this close to skipping it altogether. I’m glad I did it. That is the typical reaction I have when I choose to suck it up and do the right thing, but I so often forget in the moment.  Then, over the weekend the family went to the beach. Our hotel had a small water park inside which meant plenty of walking, in the water and out of it. I also snuck in one sunrise run on the beach, which was hard, but wonderful at the same time. Running is one of my favorite things to do at the beach, so it wasn’t hard to convince me to do that. When we got back home I got on my bike for  a ride between washing load of wet towels and sandy bathing suits. I didn’t entirely get in formal workouts, but I was active and enjoyed it. I’d call that a success.
